I am currently working on a project where I have to design and detail a small timber framed building according to the local building code and the standard for timber buildings which also happens to be a 376 page document. As this is the first time I have done anything like this, my head is being done in by it all. Its interesting, tedious, slow and I'm learning a lot at the same time. Its a building that is meant to be for politicians and those that want to meet them in a cafe-style environment, so I guess it doesn't really matter if it all falls down and flattens everyone.
Meanwhile, I notice that nobody has sent me any great wads of cash for my outstanding work. I guess I'll just have to chew on my arm again instead of dinner.
